It
is estimated that at least one in 20 children and adolescents may
have a serious emotional disturbance that severely disrupts life
at home, school, and in the community. SEMHSOC works with parents
and caregivers, youth, schools, community health centers, psychiatric
treatment programs, social service organizations, juvenile justice
systems, and primary health care organizations in an effort to coordinate
services to most effectively address the needs of infants, children
and youth while allowing them to remain in their community.
